The Whale PAL protects pleasure craft off the west coast of Europe from killer whale attacks and has been continuously optimized since 2021. Feedback from 150 customers shows that the probability of getting through "Orca Alley" unscathed increases to 98.2%. The whale PAL reduces the probability of damage from 11% to just 1.8%, a reduction of 85%. (See “Orca Attacks”).
The Porpoise-PAL utilises a unique approach in generating the alerting sounds of the animals that it protects. It was successfully tested by the Thünen Institute for Baltic Sea Fisheries with gillnet fisheries in Germany and Denmark. The device reduces harbour porpoise bycatch in the Western Baltic Sea by 80 %. A large practical test led by the Baltic Sea Info-Center in Eckernförde started in 2017 is ongoing. The Wideband-PAL was thoroughly tested in set net fisheries in Iceland and Bulgaria. It reduces bycatch of porpoises significantly (partners in Iceland and Bulgaria). Every PAL model is specifically designed for its intended application. Our range of specific PALs covers and exceeds the range of acoustic warning devices approved for fisheries in the USA and the EU (EU-Regulation 2020/967). We are developing new warning signals to mitigate the effects of mass strandings, ship strikes, maritime construction and ammunitions clearance. We look forward to the challenge of meeting your requirements and whenever possible exceeding your expectations!
